Sewing for the joy of sewing is something I love to do. I only have one looming class so I decided to sew some fun things. No smocking. Just sewing.
My niece asked me to make a twirl dress for my great-niece. ASK! And you shall receive! I made two jumpers so T. can wear them as sun dresses, with a t-shirt or a turtle neck.
This one us an updated version of the classic Children's Corner pattern: AMY.
I split the skirt to make ruffles.
I added rick rack to the seam between the ruffles.
And I used a coordinating border for the hem.
Fabric is quilting cotton by Wyndham.
I also drew in some of the excess width under the arms by inserting 1/2" elastic into a sewn tunnel.
The other jumper was hot pinks and greens, again Wyndham cotton. It was my own pattern.
This is the best part: My niece CALLED ME!!! the night the dresses arrived AND SHE SENT ME A PICTURE OF MY GREAT NIECE! in the dress. She also told me that T. wants to wear them every day and wore the pink one for school pictures. You KNOW T. is getting more AuntieMades!
Then I made dresses for my 4 chicklets. The BIGS are getting Farbenmix Cara jumpers.
The fabric for all of these is Riley Blake Dress Up Days.
I used the green/purple for the 4 year old and one Little.
The blue is for the 6 year old and the other Little.
This version of CARA is a fun length, great to wear with leggings for the fall/winter.
Look at the scallops!
I made these all fully lined so extra warmth since my chicklets moved fro the south to the cold brrrr north recently.
The Littles are getting Oliver + S's Bubble Dress.
I LOVE THIS DRESS! I can see many more in the future for little girls.
This was the first time I sewed a bubble hem using elastic. I can say it was way easier than the other way!
I can not wait to see these on the Littles!
They are the same size, two different colors, so they will be able to switch up which Big they match.
And a picture of the green set.
Isn't the purple fun?
Note the curve of the sleeve on the Little dress.
They will get matching leggings from Hannah Annderson.
And some coordinating elastic ties.
And other treats.
I love making packages for them!
Now back to smocking my samples for Judging School for MAAFS.
Smock on!

Those are all so cute, but i LOVE that hot pink and black number. I might have to steal this idea for my granddaughter.

Valerie, I bought the 2 pack leggings at Costco. I picked up the navy for the Littles at the JCrew outlet, the purple at a private store.
Don't you just LOVE this fabric line?! I bought it because of the chevron but I couldn't get it to work in these mixes.
Thanks for looking! maggieb!

Everything is adorable, but I'm partial to the dress-up days in green/purple since I bought some of every print in that colorway! Would you mind sharing what leggings from Hanna Andersson you found that coordinate with this fabric? Thanks!
