This is a wonderful, wonderful idea!! We have no heirloom shops anywhere near where we live in Nebraska, but we do travel to both Tennessee and MIchigan to see family. And I KNOW that I've got to be passing some good shops on the way! You should add Martha's Heirlooms in Mason, Ohio to your list.

Buttons n Bows on the west side of Houston is one of the greatest sources for Smocking and Heirloom Sewing. It is easy to get to and has some of the oldest and newest patterns, materials, etc. And the ladies there are always ready to assist with your project. Also the Midnight Oil Smocking Guild meets there on the third Thursday of each month.
